Central Group case: police prosecuting five people

The police have charged five people from Central Group so far, including company CEO Aleš Novotný, in connection with the alleged tax evasion. No other people from the company have been charged. The prosecutor, Ladislav Letko, said that the charged persons reduced the tax base by using bogus invoices – there are said to be approximately 700 of them and the loss caused this way is said to be CZK 200 mill. According to Letko, Novotný is not charged only because as CEO, he is responsible for the company‘s accounting but also because he is suspected to have arranged the invoices. The other four prosecuted persons allegedly issued the tax documents or mediated their issuance.
