Sustainable property development and green skills: Swiss-Czech co-operation

Recently, the pressure of the EU as well as the economic reality to reduce energy consumption of buildings is increasingly strong – 40 % of total energy consumed by buildings goes into their heating. However, awareness of the general public and experts in the field of environmentally advanced construction is still relatively low. This was the reason for establishing the project “Společně pro životní prostředí“ (Together for Environment) which aims to spread awareness of environmentally advanced construction, sustainable development of human settlements and implementation of environmental education. An international conference “Sustainable Property Development and Green Skills: Swiss-Czech Co-operation“ will be organized within the project, with the participation of leading experts in the field from both countries. Topics addressed at the conference will include energy-efficient buildings, passive standard, Czech SBToolCZ certificate or the issue of energy self-sufficient community. The Swiss experts who will speak at the conference are Ueli Bernhard (Greenjobs), Rolf Jucker (Swiss Foundation for Environmental Education), Severin Lenel (Intep), Ueli Nagel (Zurich city parliament) and Roland Stulz (Novatlantis). The Czech side will be represented by Jan Bárta (Centre of passive house), Petr Hájek (Czech Technical University), Alena Marková (Ministry of Environment) and Boris Zupančič (Czech Green Building Council).

The conference “Sustainable Property Development and Green Skills: Swiss-Czech Co-operation“ will be held on 17th-18th March 2011 at National Technical Library in Prague. Further information and registration forms on www.envi-a.org/swiss.
