Apollo Business Center II to take solar energy

HB Reavis plans to install photovoltaic technology on all roofs of the complex Apollo Business Center II in Bratislava in order to gain the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) certification for this project. As their spokesman Roman Karabelli stated, the company is changing its strategy towards construction of buildings with a sustainable long-term concept and with regard to the environment and energy efficiency. On awarding a certificate of BREEAM, an independent certification authority considers dozens of parametres, including management of valuable water resources, air quality, CO2 emissions, waste recycling and implementation of projects of social responsibility.

“Using RES in the largest office complex in Central Europe will contribute to reducing its energy intensity,” Karabelli said. As he added, the project of Konstruktorska Business Center in Warsaw, where construction is about to begin, is also prepared to receive the certificate. One of the largest business centres in Warsaw will cover an area of 1.6 ha and will offer a total of 47.5 thousand sqm of leasable area. “We plan to put the building into operation in spring 2013 at the latest, and to invest nearly EUR 90 million,” the company spokesman informed. As he added, the Garden River Office project in Prague, currently under construction, is also in the process of certification.
