The second richest Russian bought Yeltsin‘s residence
The residence of the late Russian President Boris Yeltsin in Karelia was sold for 291 million rubles (more than 172 million crowns). The tender was won by the company Severgrupp, owned by the steelmaker Alexei Mordashov. Today the Forbes magazine ranked Mordashov the second richest Russian with assets estimated at 18.5 billion CZK.
Kremlin announced the intention to sell the former presidential residence “Shuiskaya Chupa” in a picturesque corner of Karelia, about 20 kilometres from Petrozavodsk, a month ago. The complex is surrounded by pine trees on the bank of a narrow bay of one of the local lakes and it includes, among others, three-storey main building with floor area of 700 sqm and four cottages, a sauna, a garage, a gatehouse, waterworks, a jetty and tennis courts.
