New Prague zoning plan not before 2014?

Prague will probably not have a new zoning plan before 2014. Deputy Mayor Josef Nosek (ODS) announced this at an informal meeting with journalists. Prague has been preparing the plan for several years. Recent year and a half has been spent dealing with around 16,000 comments people made on the zoning plan.

According to Mr Nosek, consideration of all received comments should be done by the end of the year. Then the concept of the new zoning plan, which provides more options to some areas, will be approved by the City Council and by the City Assembly. Subsequently, a final draft of the plan will be prepared again, to which people and city districts can present their comments. “We expect roughly 15,000 to 20,000 comments again and also some challenges in court,“ said Nosek. After settlement of all comments and possible legal charges, everything will be approved by the Council and Assembly.

The current zoning plan of Prague has been in force since 2000. According to Mr Nosek, the Building Act orders Prague to approve the new zoning plan by the end of 2015.
