Quarterly profit of Skanska rose almost fourfold

The largest Scandinavian construction company Skanska increased its pre-tax profit in the second quarter nearly fourfold to 5.66 billion Swedish krona (CZK 15.1 billion), compared to the last year’s SEK 1.46 billion. This economic result was supported by the capital gain of SEK 4.5 billion from the sale of stakes in the Chilean company Autopista Central. The company also states that the construction market in most countries where it operates is stable. Building construction market shows a good trend in Scandinavia, the outlook for the Czech Republic and Britain, remains weak though.

Originally Swedish company, Skanska is one of the largest construction companies in the world. Besides Europe, it operates in the United States and Latin America. Skanska’s net profit in the Czech Republic and Slovakia fell by 11 per cent to CZK 1.01 billion last year. Company revenues decreased by 22 per cent to CZK 24.3 billion.
