Reparation of Charles Bridge in Prague is completed, some minor works remain to be finalized. Mott MacDonald, the company contracted by Prague City Hall for its reconstruction, expects the bridge to be approved for occupation by the end of October. The approaching end of the second phase of reconstruction of Charles Bridge was confirmed by the City Hall spokesman Jiří Wolf. The city of Prague apparently anticipates that everything should be ready by mid-November. After this phase, will follow another one when the bridge cladding will be reconstructed. It is not yet clear when the city of Prague will start the repair works. However, they are estimated to take a minimum of ten years. Charles Bridge is the second oldest stone bridge in the Czech Republic. It replaced the Judith Bridge, which had been taken down by 1342 spring snow melting. Its construction was started by the Emperor Charles IV. in 1357, it was completed in the early 15th century. It is 520 metres long. Until 1879 is was named Kamenný (Stone).
