Construction group Eurovia CS will seek to build Polish motorway, where contract with the Chinese company Covec was recently cancelled. The server Ekonom.cz brought this news with reference to Eurovia´s Chairman and CEO, Martin Borovka. “If Poles search a company for the completion of the motorway, we will definitely compete for the contract,” Mr Borovka said to Ekonom. The A2 motorway is supposed to link Poznan to Warsaw, two cities hosting the European Soccer Championship. If it is not completed in time, football fans will have to take a dangerous ride through narrow and jammed roads. In mid-June, Polish General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways announced its withdrawal from the contract with the Chinese company Covec for the construction of two sections of motorway, which should link Warsaw and Germany in the future. The termination came into force on Monday midnight; a new supplier should be selected within two weeks. As noted by Ekonom, Skanska and Eurovia are the major Czech companies involved in road construction in Poland. The ability to take up work at the site immediately will also play a substantial role in choosing the new general contractor. “Czech companies certainly have free capacity due to decline in construction contracts,“ said Václav Matyáš, President of Association of Building Entrepreneurs of the Czech Republic.
