Orco: Reconstruction of Elektrické podniky building
The current office space in the functionalist building of Former Elektrické podniky in Bubenská street will soon be turned into a modern office building Galilei Business Centre (GBC). This project will offer a total of 30,000 sqm for rent. Reconstruction of the interior will last 12 months. Orco thus quickly responded to the news on relocation of the Galileo satellite navigation system headquarters from Brussels to Prague. New GSA headquarters in the former building of the Czech Consolidation Agency in Prague´s suburb of Holešovice is located in close proximity to GBC.
The former building of the Prague´s Elektrické and later Dopravní podniky (Electrical and later Transport company) was put into operation in 1935 and is considered one of the most important functionalist-style buildings in Prague. It is a listed building with a number of unique technical solutions.
Orco originally offered the building for sale to Prague 7 townhall, however, it did not succeed in the tender for a new townhall.
