JRD: occupancy approval of the biggest low-energy housing complex

The property developer JRD approved the biggest low-energy housing complex in the Czech Republic – Rezidence Dolní Měcholupy 4. The complex includes 43 housing units with sizes from 1 room + kitchenette to 4 rooms + kitchenette. Rezidence Dolní Měcholupy 4 is the fourth completed project by JRD in Dolní Měcholupy, Prague, which therefore becomes the centre of low-energy living in the Czech Republic. The project was fully sold at the building shell stage. According to Jan Řežáb, the company’s Managing Director, the reason is that JRD offers low-energy houses to its clients not only in the pleasant location outside the city centre, but also at an exceptionally high level of comfort using environmentally-friendly materials and modern technology. The extremely low energy consumption is confirmed by a certificate of energy class A. The roofs above the staircases are fitted with solar collectors connected to hot water tanks; the southern sections of the slant roofs are equipped with photovoltaic systems. The project also includes the so called “zero” flat, where total thermal losses are in balance with thermal gains. Two surveys are going on in this flat, in cooperation with the Czech Technical University in Prague – installation of a measuring system and subsequent measurement and installation of a combined system of thermal – photovoltaic collectors. In the months to come, three other new low-energy residential projects should grow in Dolní Měcholupy.
