Skanska group in the Czech and Slovak Republics – sales fall by 17 percent

The building group Skanska recorded a fall in sales by 17 % to CZK 31,243 in the Czech and Slovak Republic last year. In contrast its operational profit was up by 10 % and after-tax profit by 12 % on last year. The transport construction sector was the most successful; the biggest fall was marked in the residential development sector – sector most affected by the crisis. A single company – Skanska a.s. covers all its activities in the Czech Republic after an internal merger. The merger of the 6 Slovak Skanska companies will be finalized by 1st April 2010 in Slovakia, the new name will be Skanska SK a.s. The restructuring is a part of the “Jedna Skanska” (“One Skanska”) project with a newly set management system and economic model of the group functioning, including risk management.
