Skanska modernizes the Czech railway

The largest construction company in the Czech Republic – Skanska Company won the contract for the Czech railway line modernization at the price of 2.76 billion CZK. This is the upgrade of 21-km stage between Prague and Pilsen, which will enable trains to travel at up to 160 km per hour. The works include construction of 4 new bridges, renovation of 24 other bridges, 3 stations, 3 platforms and noise barriers building. The work will begin in summer 2009 and be completed in October 2012. The consortium of companies under the leadership of Skanska Company will implement modernisation works. The total value of the contract is 4 billion CZK, whereas Skanska enterprise contributes by 70-percent share.
