Košice: Government approved EUR 60 mill. from eurofunds for the European Cultural Capital project
EUR 60 mill. from eurofunds will be used for execution of the investment projects European cultural capital (ECC); a new priority package will be created within the operational programme. The resources will be allocated from 5 operational programmes. This was the decision of government. František Knapík, mayor of Košice sees this as excellent news as ECC is not a project only of the city but also of the entire region.“ The most significant projects include reconstruction of barracks to culture park, reconstruction of amphitheatre, old swimming-pool, city park, Moyzesova park, St. Agnes cathedral as well as construction of Blue park nearby the river Hornád. Košice self-governing region has prepared 2 large investment projects – Ostrov kultúry (Island of Culture) for EUR 10 mill. and Terra incognita for EUR 1,75 mill.
