Bratislava: they wants to repair the Old Bridge till the end of October 2010 at latest
The capital plans to repair the Old Bridge in Bratislava till the end of October 2010 at latest. The major, Andrej Ďurkovský, told it at yesterday press meeting. The city intents to solve its emergency state this way. That is also why it proceeds to repairing at the price of 20 mills € only for the time being, which it has available. „Complex reconstruction of the bridge would cost 50 millions €. But we cannot venture to do it for this purpose, in this situation and in this case,“ he informed. The Old Bridge repairing ought to start until 3 months. Buses will drive during repairs; the tram ought to start driving from the centre to Petržalka in year 2011. The repair itself, divided into two phases, should start in May. The railway part will be repaired in the 1st phase, where the new bridge deck and rails will be laid, Šafárikovo Square reconstructed and the stage between the bridge and Bosákova Street built-up. Cars ought to return to the repaired bridge, for which 1 roadway will be destined in the direction from the city to Petržalka. Enlarged pedestrian bridge for pedestrians and bicyclists will also be the repaired bridge part.
