Dolný Kubín should be connected to the D1 motorway in 2018

The R3 expressway from Dolný Kubín to the D1 motorway should be finished in 2018 and it should require EUR 259 to 382 mill., depending on the option which the investor will eventually choose. The Národná diaľničná spoločnosť (National Motorway Company) wants to start the construction of this section, which should be connected to the D1 motorway in Hubová, in 2014. 3 options have been put forward. The total length of the first option (with no tunnels) is 17,8 km. The second option is 20,5 km long and it includes a 300-metre tunnel, the third option should be 23,3 km long. Between 36 to 43 bridges should be built in the motorway section.
