Preference of PPP projects said to be a mistake

The former Minister of Transport Pavol Prokopovič described the preference of public-private partnership (PPP) projects to EU funds as the government’s biggest mistake in the funding of motorway construction. He continued that PPP projects should have been a mere complement. According to him, the statements of the Ministry of Transport that if PPP projects fail, motorways will be financed from EU funds, are totally unreasonable, untrue and impossible. According to him, the money from European Union’s funds are used in the long term, from the beginning of project preparation until its completion, and the EU’s representatives are sitting on the tender commissions.
