D1 motorway may be completed in 2016
The main D1 motorway between Bratislava and Košice may be completed before the end of 2016 at the earliest. A condition of this is handing over all the missing sections which were supposed to be completed within the cancelled 1st and 3rd PPP package. Transport Minister Ján Figeľ commented on the D1 completion date that he sees the year 2016 as a time horizon when a majority of the planned or under tender 1st and 3rd package sections from Žilina may be completed. “It was not just about price, it was about other factors which affected the assessment of risks and advantages. There is competition for and high interest from builders in the two Levoča sections (D1 Jánovce – Jablonov), there is also high interest in supervision of this construction,“ added Figeľ. According to him, this could allow for reaching lower labour costs.
